HOFFMAN NAMED BIG TEN DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

effortUniversity of Minnesota junior linebacker Sean Hoffman, a native of Fargo, N.D., has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Golden Gophers' 33-14 victory at Northwestern Saturday.

Hoffman collected 12 tackles, including a single-game school- record six tackles for a loss of 12 yards. The previous school mark in a single-game was five by Robert Stein vs. Iowa in 1966. Hoffman, who ranks second on the team with 30 tackles including 21 unassisted, also collected one sack and forced a fumble in the win over the Wildcats.
