GOLDEN GOPHERS DEFEAT MEXICAN ALL-STAR TEAM IN FIRST EXHIBITION

The University of Minnesota men's basketball team defeated the Cimeba All-Stars (Mexico) 82-58 at Williams Arena. Junior Mitch Ohnstad led the Golden Gophers in scoring with 19 points.

The Golden Gophers led 30-29 at half time and broke open the scoring early in the second half when Ohnstad hit a three-pointer to put Minnesota up 35-31. They would go on to make the score 44-31 before the Cimeba All-Stars Wilfredo Pagen hit a lay-up at the 15:19 mark.

Ohnstad led the team in scoring with 19 points, followed by John-Blair Bickerstaff and Terrance Simmons with 10 points a piece and Kevin Burleson and Kevin Nathaniel with eight points a piece.

The Golden Gophers will take on Ural Great (Russia) in their last exhibition game on Monday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. at Williams Arena. Minnesota opens the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 20 against Texas-Arlington at Williams Arena.
