GOLDEN GOPHER BASEBALL TEAM ANNOUNCES FALL SIGNINGS

"We are extremely excited about our early signees," head coach John Anderson said. "With the departure of seven senior pitchers after this season, this group will be the foundation of our pitching staff for the next four years. Bill Schneider and Logan Gerken have the potential to be outstanding offensive players during their careers. This class is made up of outstanding student-athletes and people that will represent our program with class during their careers at Minnesota."

Jay Gagner, LHP, 6-1, 185, Cumberland, Wis. (Cumberland HS) Earned all-state as a junior in 1999.has good command of three pitches.his 1999 high school record was 8-2 with a 1.47 ERA striking out 100 batters in 64 innings of work.was also an all-state kicker for the football team.selected as a national scholar representing Wisconsin at the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, DC.high school coach is Mark Fuller.
Logan Gerken, OF, 6-4, 215, Boulder, Colo. (Fairview HS) Right-handed power hitter who was a first team All-State in Colorado as a junior.led his high school to the Colorado State Championship game in a season where he hit .524 with 6 HRs and 37 RBIs in 23 games.hit nine HRs in his first 10 Connie Mack summer games.has a GPA of 3.9.also considered Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and Clemson.high school coach is Rick Harig.
Josh Krogman, RHP, 6-5, 200, St. Cloud, Minn. (Apollo HS) Finished the 1999 prep and legion ball seasons with a record of 15-6 in 149 innings pitched.has a powerful fastball and breaking pitch.struck out 246 batters with an ERA of 2.09.has a 3.7 GPA.high school coach is Tom Frerichs.legion coach is Dennis Yoerg.
