The Big Green, 5-3-0, got the only goal of the first period as Lauren Trottier scored on her own rebound at the 14 minute, 35 second mark.
After an uneventful first period, Minnesota picked up the pace in the second period and score four times in less than seven minutes.
Brodt kicked off the spurt when she scored an unassisted goal at 8:39 of the second period. She picked up the puck high on the right side of the offensive zone, skated the puck deep and cut to the net before pulling the puck around Big Green goalie Meghan Cahill and scoring into an open net.
Nadine Muzerall scored just over a minute later and Ambria Thomas added a short-handed goal little more than a minute after that, with Brodt and Laura Slominski assisting on both goal, to give the Gophers a 3-1 lead. Carly Haggard scored on the power play for Dartmouth at 12:05 and Ronda Curtin's goal at 14:58 gave Minnesota a 4-2 lead through two periods.
Haggard's second goal at 9:12 of the final period pulled the Big Green to within one goal and Jen Wiehn scored with Cahill pulled for an extra attacker with 42.6 seconds to play to tie the score.
As the game appeared headed for overtime, Brodt's shot from the left point got kicked out in front of the net by Cahill and Slominski managed to push it loose as she was taken to the ice. Kennedy then came rushing down the slot and ripped a shot past Cahill's glove for the game winner at 19:49.
The Gophers held a 28-21 advantage in shots on goal. Cahill had 23 saves for Dartmouth while Erica Killewald had 17 for Minnesota.
The two teams wrap up their two-game non-conference series Sunday at 1:05 p.m. The game will be aired live on Midwest Sports Channel.
