HARTUNG, KRAFT AND HAHN COMPETE IN NEW YORK AC OPEN

NFormer and current University of Minnesota wrestlers Tim Hartung, Chad Kraft and Damion Hahn competed in the New York AC Christmas Open in Manhatten, N.Y., last Sunday. The tournament showcased some of the top freestyle talent in the nation.

Hartung, a two-time NCAA Champion (1998-99) at Minnesota, placed second in the 213.75 kg weight class. Hartung lost to Chad Lamar of Iowa City, Iowa, 8-3. Hartung graduated from Minnesota in 1999 and is currently the strength coach for the fourth-ranked Golden Gophers.

Placing fourth in the 167.5 kg weight class was Chad Kraft. Kraft, the first four-time All- American at Minnesota, lost to Frank Trigg from Norman, Okla., 3-2. Kraft also graduated from the Minnesota in 1999 and is currently the developmental coach for the Golden Gophers.

Freshman Damion Hahn of Lakewood, N.J., finished third in the 187.25 kg weight class. Hahn is the recipient of the Junior Hodge Award in 1999, honoring the best high school wrestler in the nation.
