HAHN TO BE HONORED AT GOLDEN GOPHER WRESTLING MEET

hiUniversity of Minnesota freshman Damion Hahn will be honored Sunday, Dec. 12 with the Junior Hodge Award. The Junior Hodge Award recognizes the best high school wrestler in America. Hahn will receive his award during the Minnesota vs. Portland State wrestling match at 2 p.m. in the Sports Pavilion. National Chairman for wrestling at the Amateur Athletic Union Bob Johnson will be on hand to give the award to Hahn.

Hahn, a native of Lakewood, N.J., was a three-time New Jersey state high school champion. He was named Asic's Wrestler of the Year and earned three All- America honors by USA Wrestling. Hahn was a three-time Junior National Champion and placed fourth at the 1999 Junior World Championships. He finished his prep career with a 131-3 overall record.

So far this season, Hahn has won the Bison Open title in Fargo, N.D., competing unattached at 184 pounds. Last weekend he won the Northern Iowa Open title at 184 pounds as well. He is 13-1 on the season, with his lone loss to the 1999 NCAA Champion Cael Sanderson of Iowa State.
