For the second game in a row Providence goalie Sara DeCosta stymied Minnesota but the Gophers came through with three goals in the final eight minutes to beat the Friars 5-1.

DeCosta, who made 37 saves in a 1-0 loss Saturday, stopped 18 of 20 shots through two periods, including a 16-save effort during the second period, to keep the Friars within striking distance of Minnesota, which got first period goals from Jenny Schmidgall and Courtney Kennedy, at 2-1.

Myia Yates got Providence's only goal of the weekend at 10:05 of the second period when she tipped a Valerie Bono shot from the left point on the power play.

The scored remained 2-1 until Schmidgall got her second goal of the game, and 32 of the season, with 7:48 to play. Winny Brodt scored little more than two minutes later and Kennedy clinched the game with her 13th of the season with 1:22 left in the game.

Minnesota, 25-2-2, held a 36-11 advantage in shots on goal as DeCosta made 36 saves for Providence, 17-10-2. Erica Killewald had 10 saves for the Gophers.
