WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS SETS SEASON-HIGH IN DEFEATING ILLINOIS

Cavazos set personal season highs on the vault (9.75), uneven bars (9.925) and floor exercise (9.9). She placed third in the all around competition with a score of 38.825.
The Gophers swept the top three places in the vault, with freshman MaryAnne Kelley and sophomore Shanyn Lancaster tying for first at 9.8 and Cavazos third. Minnesota recorded a season-best 48.750 on vault.
Minnesota also earned the top three spots on the uneven bars, with Cavazos first, freshman Catie Christensen second with a career-best 9.875 and sophomore Megan Skokut third at 9.850. The Golden Gophers recorded a score of 49.250 on the uneven bars, the highest Minnesota total for any individual event this season.
On the floor exercise, four athletes recorded a 9.8 or higher, leading to a season-high team score of 49.125. Christensen and Kelley tied for fourth at 9.85, with freshman Megan Beuckens sixth with a career-best 9.825.
