All-AmericaSophomore Aubrey Schmitt placed second in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Indianapolis, earning her first All-America honor and breaking the Minnesota record by over 1 1/2 feet.

Junior Christine Gulbrandsen, the Big Ten triple jump champion, placed 12th in the triple jump with a leap of 42-1 1/4 despite suffering from the flu.

Minnesota tied for 24th place with eight points. Texas placed first with 61.
