GOPHERS ROUT HUSKIES IN MIDWEST SHOWDOWN SEMIFINAL

Winny Brodt, Shannon Kennedy and Megan Milbert en route to a 10-0 win over the Huskies in a Midwest Showdown semifinal game at Mariucci Arena.

Kennedy scored the game's first two goals, both on power plays, and Milbert got the games last two goals. Courtney Kennedy and Kris Scholz each chipped in with three assists.

The Gophers had a 36-2 advantage in shots on goal. Sondra Diaz-Arntzen stopped 22 of 28 shots for the Huskies before being injured 2:23 into the second period. Erica Glover stopped four shots after replacing her. Crystal Nicholas needed to make just two saves to post her seventh shutout and 10th victory of the season.

Minnesota advances to the Midwest Showdown championship game, Thursday, March 11, at 7:05 p.m. at Mariucci Arena. The Gophers will face Minnesota State, Mankato for the title after the Mavericks defeated Minnesota- Duluth 4-1 Saturday in Mankato.
