MICHNIOVAITE PROVISIONALLY QUALIFIES FOR NCAA MEET

postUniversity of Minnesota cross country All-American Rasa Michniovaite took the first step in accomplishing a national honor on the track as well by posting an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 4 minutes, 23.95 seconds in the 1,500-meter run at the Sun Angel Classic late Saturday. Michniovaite placed fifth.
Also highlighting the Gophers' performance was Christine Gulbrandsen, who tied her own school record in the pole vault with a height of 11-1 3/4 and placed fourth. Gulbrandsen tallied the highest finish for the Gophers, placing third in the triple jump with an effort of 40-1 1/2.
Other Gophers placing in the top six were Minna Haronoja fourth in the 3,000-meter run (9:46.88), Neketa Sears fifth in the 100-meter high hurdles (15.90), Yvette White sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.93) and Apasha Blocker sixth in the shot put (40- 2 3/4).
