KRISTI WEICHERT LOSES TOP HONORS ON PLAYOFF

toUniversity of Minnesota senior golfer Kristi Weichert carded a three-round total of 231 to tie for the individual title, but lost the medalist honor to Ohio State's Lisa Strom, at the Indiana Invitational completed on Sunday.

The Gophers finished fourth as a team with a total of 948 strokes, 14 strokes behind champion Indiana's 934. Ohio State placed second at 937, while Purdue was third at 947.

Weichert, Strom and Ohio State's Natalie Mosher all turned in a 9-over par 231 in the 54-hole tournament. The tie- breaker is the players' performances on the final hole. Strom hit par, while Weichert and Mosher bogeyed the 18th to decide the invitational medalist.

Gopher senior Melanie Lepp scored the invitational's lowest round, an even-par 74, on Sunday to imprve her standing to a tie for 19th with a total of 240. She started the final round in a tie for 38th.
