QUINLAN NAMED BIG TEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Senior All-American Robb Quinlan was named Big Ten Player of the Week Monday after his performance last week against Northern Iowa and Iowa The Golden Gophers finished the week 5-0 and have now won 18 of their last 19 games. Minnesota is 24-7 overall on the season and tied for first place in the Big Ten at 7-1 with Ohio State.

The Maplewood, Minn., native batted .667 (14-21) with 10 RBIs, nine runs scored, five doubles, a triple and two home runs. In the Golden Gophers' 13-5 victory at Iowa on Sunday, he went 5-for-6 with three doubles, a home run and five RBIs. He tied his own Big Ten record with three doubles in one game. With his performance, he now leads the league with a .433 batting average.

During the week, Quinlan also became the school's all- time career leader with 65 doubles and 187 RBIs. He surpassed Brent Gates' ('90-93) mark of 61 doubles and Mark Merila's ('91-94) 179 RBIs. He also tied the school's career home run record of 45 held by Tom Steinbach ('80-83) with a solo home run in the seventh inning on Sunday.

Quinlan's next opportunity to claim the career home run record will come on Wednesday at Siebert Field against Northern Iowa. Game time is 3 p.m.
