CHIMKO PROVISIONALLY QUALIFIES IN DISCUS AT ST. OLAF

plJunior Nicole Chimko provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in winning the discus Saturday at the St. Olaf Manitou Track Classic. Chimko placed first with a toss of 172 feet, 1 inch. Sophomore Brenda Meyer was second at 156-4 an sophomore Jenney Luer third at 147-9.

Minnesota placed three athletes in the top four of the 100-meter dash. Senior Kim Heath won the event in a time of 12.24 seconds. Senior Yvette White was third in 12.40 and freshman Amber Day fourth in 12.42.

Junior Beth Howard won the hammer throw with a mark of 169-11, while Meyer was fourth at 152-11. Freshman Chrissy Eid won the 10,000 meters in a time of 37 minutes, 31.45 seconds. Minnesota's 4x100 relay team placed first in 47.70, while the 4x400 relay placed second in 3:59.13.
