GOLDEN GOPHERS FINISH SECOND AT COMPAQ COLLEGIATE GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

Minnesota sophomore and defending NCAA Champion tore up the course on the final day of play, shooting a 5-under par 67 to finish in a tie for third place. McLean's 67 was the lowest score of the final day of the tournament. McLean finished two strokes behind individual winner, UNLV's Chris Berry, who defeated Oklahoma's Hunter Haas on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff.
Three shots behind McLean was senior Adam Dooley, who fired a third round 1-under par 71 to finish at 3-under par in the tournament and in a four-way tie for ninth place. Junior Martin LeMesurier shot a 1-over par 73 on Sunday and finished at 2-under par in the tournament, good enough for a tie for 13th-place. Senior Jeff Barney shot a final day 4-over par 76 to finish at 1-over par in the tournament.
After struggling through most of the tournament, senior Andy Komor fired a par 72 on the final day to finish the tournament at 7-over par.
The Golden Gophers will now have a four week break before competing in their next tournament, the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. on May 8-9.
