20 WOMEN STUDENT-ATHLETES EARN ACADEMIC HONORS

In addition to winning the Big Ten title in the 100-yard butterfly, Jashinsky earned honorable mention All- America honors in four events at the NCAA Championships. Jashinsky, a junior from Menomonee Falls, Wis., is a junior majoring in sport management and owns a 3.01 grade point average.
Golden Gopher gymnast Megan Skokut , a sophomore from Carmel, Ind., holds the distinction of being the only Big Ten female athlete competing in a winter sport to hold a perfect 4.0 GPA. Skokut is undecided on a major.
A total of 12 members of the Gophers' conference champion women's swimming and diving team were awarded Academic All-Big Ten honors. Joining Jashinsky from that team are Krissy Berglund (Sr., Business, Somerville, N.J.), Ann Cahoy (So., business, Hudson, Wis.), Katy Christoferson (So., pre-med, Burnsville, Minn.), Emily Deppe (So., psychology/physical therapy, Green Valley, Calif.), Kim Harrod (So., math/education, Apple Valley, Minn.), Tracy LaVoi (So., kinesiology, Sauk Rapids, Minn.), Kate McMillan (Jr., business, Palatine, Ill.), Amy Miller (Sr., family social science, Blaine, Minn.), Elizabeth Pierce (So., journalism, Bismark, N.D.), Jocelyn Pogue (So., pre-physical therapy, Jamestown, N.D.) and Andrea Simakova (Sr., German, Brno, Czech Republic).
Skokut and All-Big Ten performer Judy Cavazos (Monterrey, Mexico), a junior majoring in psychology, lead the women's gymnastics team. Other Academic All-Big Ten gymnasts are Melissa Chang (Jr., kinesiology, Blue Springs, Mo.), Shanyn Lancaster (SO., biology/pre-med, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), Jenny Mazzone (Sr., biology, Sparks, Nev.), Mariam Pourshoushtari (So., journalism, Rockville, M.D.) and Kristi Selinger (Jr., physical therapy, Aurora, Colo.).
Honorable mention All-Big Ten selection Sonja Robinson (Scottsdale, Ariz.), a senior majoring in architecture/ engineering, represents the Gopher women's basketball team.
