WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD RESULTS FROM THE MINNESOTA OPEN

Minnesota swept the top three places in the discus. Sophomore Aubrey Schmitt placed first with a provisional mark and Minnesota season-best toss of 173-8. Junior Nicole Chimko was second at 168-6 and sophomore Brenda Meyer third with a personal-best 163-9. Chimko also won the javelin (168-10).
Minnesota's 4x400 relay team of senior Kim Heath, White, freshman Amber Day and sophomore Pattie Galle placed first in 3:49.72. Junior Christine Gulbrandsen recorded a wind-aided leap of 41-3 1/4 in winning the triple jump. She also took first in the pole vault at 11-0.
Other winners for Minnesota were junior Minna Haronoja in the 3000 meters (10:04.24), sophomore Corinne Nimtz in the 5000 meters (17:12.17) and junior Beth Howard in the hammer throw (184-8).
