GOLDEN GOPHER WRESTLERS TO COMPETE AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Marr, of Wyoming, Minn., will wrestle at 152 pounds, Cuperus of Worthington, Minn., will wrestle at 187.25 pounds and Lowney of Appleton, Wis., will wrestle at 213.75 pounds in the Junior Greco-Roman World Championships.
At the Junior Freestyle World Championships, Vega will wrestle at 119 pounds. Last year, Vega, a native of Portage, Ind., finished ninth at the world competition. Lawrence, of Sandpoint, Idaho, will wrestle at 152 pounds and Hahn, from Lakewood, N.J., will compete at 187.25 pounds. In addition, University of Minnesota assistant wrestling coach Mark Schwab will serve as the assistant coach of the USA Junior Freestyle team.
Joe Russell, also a current assistant wrestling coach at Minnesota, will serve as the assistant coach for the 1999 Cadet Greco-Roman World Championships in Nykoping, Denmark, July 28-31. Cadet wrestlers must be born either in 1983 or 1984 to be eligible to wrestle.
