EVANS NAMED ASSISTANT WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH

WDanny Evans has been named as an assistant basketball coach for the women's program at the University of Minnesota. Evans joins head coach Cheryl Littlejohn and assistant coaches Jody Adams and Marc Wilson for the 1999-2000 season.

Evans has seven years of experience as an assistant basketball coach at the women's Division I level. He served in that position for five years at Oregon State, one year at Michigan and one year at South Alabama. Evans graduated from Oregon State with a bachelor's degree in graphic design after playing basketball for four years under legendary coach Ralph Miller. He will be the second assistant coach under Littlejohn, as Adams was promoted to the first assistant coach position after the resignation of Tori Harrison. Wilson remains the third assistant basketball coach.

Minnesota opens its 1999-2000 season by hosting the Gopher Basketball Classic from Nov. 20-21 at the Sports Pavilion.
