GOPHER SOCCER DROPS 3-1 MATCH TO SMU

MustangSouthern Methodist (3-3) broke loose with three goals early in the second half to erase a one-goal deficit and capture a 3-1 victory over No. 22 Minnesota (2-2) in St. Paul on Sunday.

The Mustangs' Sarah Harvey tied the score at the 48.22 mark, drilling home a pass from Holly Broome. Six minutes later, Shelby Stone found the net to give SMU a one-goal lead. Tara Comfort added an insurance goal for the Mustangs at 60:32.

The teams played nearly a full half of scoreless soccer until Gopher senior Megan Johnson tallied a goal off assists form Nicole Lee and Erin Holland at the 41:06 mark.

SMU outshot Minnesota, 16-14, with both team's collecting six saves.
