GOLDEN GOPHER GOLF TEAM RANKED 15TH IN THE NATION

cThe University of Minnesota men's golf team is ranked 15th in the nation in the first MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings for the 1999-2000 season released recently by the College Golf Foundation in cooperation with the Golf Coaches Association.

Junior James McLean, the 1998 NCAA Champion and two- time All-American, is ranked fifth in the preseason individual rankings.

The Golden Gophers finished 11th in the nation last season at the NCAA Championships, hosted by the University of Minnesota at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn. Minnesota opens the 1999-2000 season this Sunday as they travel to the Ping/Golfweek NCAA Preview at Opelika, Alabama, hosted by Auburn University.
