The Gophers (4-3-0, 2-1-0) dominated the match, holding the Spartans (2-4-3, 1-1-1) without a shot for the first 34 minutes of the match and just four shots the entire game. Minnesota compiled 21 shots and held an 8- 1 advantage in corner kicks.
Minnesota added an insurance goal at the 83:18 mark when senior Megan Johnson collected a Laurie Seidl pass and nudged it past Spartan goalkeeper Sara Kloosterman
Gopher keeper Dana Larson earned the victory in net, her second shutout of the season and 21st of her career. She needed just two saves to pick up the win.
Minnesota continues its homestand on Sunday with a 1 p.m. match against Northwestern. A dedication ceremony for the Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium will be held at 12:30 p.m.
