GOPHER SOCCER JUMPS TO NO. 22 IN NSCAA POLL

2The University of Minnesota soccer team was tabbed No. 22 in the nation in the first poll of the season released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Monday. The Gophers, 2-0, are joined by No. 5 Penn State (2-0) and No. 14 Wisconsin (2-0-2) as Big Ten Conference teams ranked in the top 25. Michigan and Ohio State received votes.

Minnesota continues its non-conference slate on Friday, Sept. 10, with a match at Iowa State in Ames. The Gophers' next home match is Sunday, Sept. 12, when they host Southern Methodist at 1 p.m. at the Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium. Minnesota's first game in the new stadium last Saturday drew a record crowd of 1,432 to watch the Gophers defeat Arizona State, 1-0.
