THREE WRESTLERS SELECTED TO COMPETE IN NWCA ALL-STAR CLASSIC

MicThree University of Minnesota wrestlers have been invited to compete in the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Classic held on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich., Feb. 7. All- Americans sophomore Leroy Vega at 125 pounds, senior Brandon Eggum at 184 pounds and heavyweight Brock Lesnar have all been selected to compete in the all-star classic.

Four NCAA Champions have also been selected to compete in Doug Schwab of Iowa (141), T.J. Williams of Iowa (157), Kirk White of Boise State (165) and Cael Sanderson of Iowa State (184). Other Big Ten selections include Jeremy Hunter of Penn State (125), Eric Juergens of Iowa (133), Adam Tirapelle of Illinois (149),Otto Olson of Michigan (174) and Nick Muzashvili of Michigan State (197).

The athletes are selected by a five-person selection committee. The two highest rated athletes from each weight class were determined by the committee and received invitations. The coaching staff will consist of head coach Troy Sunderland of Penn State and Jack Spates of Oklahoma. Assistant coaches will be David Ray of Montana State-Northern and Steve Lampe of Colby Junior College.
