These standings are based upon the completion of all fall sports, which includes women's and men's cross country, field hockey, I-AA football, I-A football, women's and men's soccer, women's volleyball and water polo. The football team finished the year ranked 18th by the final Associated Press poll.
The men's cross country team placed 15th at the NCAA Championships, while the women's cross country team placed 17th. The women's soccer team advanced into the second round of the NCAA Tournament, while the volleyball team reached the sweet 16. Stanford is leading the race with 413 points, Michigan is second with 333 points, UCLA is third with 307 points, Penn State is fourth with 298 points and Wisconsin is fifth with 270 points.
