GopMinnesota scored six goals in the opening period, including four times in the opening seven minutes, and cruised to a 10-0 win over Minnesota State, Mankato at the Midwest Wireless Center.

The Gophers' early four-goal outburst came within a two-minute span as Ambria Thomas scored a power-play goal at 4:36. Nadine Muzerall tallied 24 seconds later. Alyson Sundberg scored at the 6:09 mark and Lacey Franzmeier's goal at 6:22 gave Minnesota a 4-0 lead.

Courtney Kennedy scored with 5:30 to play in the period and Muzerall's second of the game at 15:13 made the score 6-0.

Muzerall completed her hat trick at the 9:03 mark of the second period. Laura Slominski, Tracy Engstrom and Shannon Kennedy scored the remainder of the Gophers' goals.

Minneosta had a 34-10 advantage in shots on goal, holding the Mavericks without a shot during the third period. Erica Killewald had 10 saves for her third shutout of the season.

The Gophers begin a six-game homestand next weekend when they host Bemidji State, Friday and Saturday at Mariucci Arena.
