NO. 3 GOLDEN GOPHER WRESTLERS BEAT THE BUCKEYES 31-12

OhThe No. 3-ranked Golden Gophers beat Ohio State 31-12 in Columbus, Ohio, this afternoon to increase their undefeated mark to 9-0 and increase the program's longest win streak to 20 dual match wins. Ohio State drops to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten, while Minnesota is 9-0 and 2-0 in the Big Ten.

The afternoon started with a 15- 4 major decision by No. 2-ranked sophomore Leroy Vega over Kore Sharpley at 125 pounds. Minnesota went on to win the next four matches to increase the score to 19-0. Junior Brett Lawrence beat Jesse Leng with a 15-5 major decision at 133 pounds. At 141 pounds senior Ty Friederichs decisioned Keaton Anderson 11-4 at 141 pounds. Freshman Jared Lawrence, ranked No. 9, defeated No. 19- ranked Brian Roskovich with a 16-6 major decision. Freshman Luke Becker also won his match at 157 pounds with a 15-4 major decision over Josh Janson.

Toward the end of the match, Minnesota's two All-American seniors Brandon Eggum and Brock Lesnar both recorded pins. Eggum, ranked No. 2 nationally, pinned Donovan True at 184 pounds, while Lesnar took care of Tony Sylvester with a pin in just 51 seconds at heavyweight. Lesnar increased his overall record to 11-0 on the season and 9-0 in dual meet competitions. He is the lone Golden Gopher to remain undefeated.

Minnesota will travel to University Park, Pa., next weekend to compete in the NWCA National Dual Championships. The Golden Gophers lost in the title match to Oklahoma State 20-17 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.
