SECOND-RANKED ILLINOIS DEFEATS MINNESOTA'S MEN'S GYMNASTICS TEAM

Senior Chad Conner led the Golden Gophers earning first-place honors on the parallel bars with a score of 9.5. He also had third-place finishes on the high bar with a score of 9.3 and on the pommel horse with a score of 9.45.
Besides Connor's first place finish on the parallel bars, Minnesota freshman Clay Strother and junior Bob Goss also had first-place finishes for the Golden Gophers. Strother turned in a 9.775 on the floor exercise while Goss posted a score of 9.65 on the pommel horse.
Rounding out the Minnesota gymnasts who earned honors was senior Lindsey Fang, who placed second on the parallel bars with a score of 9.45, and senior Ryan Winterbourne who tied for second place on the still rings with a score of 9.25.
University of Illinois senior Travis Romagnoli won the all-around competition with a score of 55.3 with Strother finishing second at 53.725.
The Golden Gophers return to action next Saturday at noon when they face the Iowa Hawkeyes at the Sports Pavilion.
