MINNESOTA ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT RANKED 12TH IN SEARS DIRECTOR'S CUP

AthleThe University of Minnesota Men's and Women's Athletics Departments are ranked 12th with 156 points in the Sears Director's Cup rankings by NACDA (National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics). The competition recognizes the finest all-around athletic programs (men's and women's combined) in the nation.

These standings are based upon the completion of women's and men's cross country, field hockey, I-AA football, women's and men's soccer, women's volleyball and water polo. The men's cross country team placed 15th at the NCAA Championships, while the women's cross country team placed 17th. The women's soccer team advanced into the second round of the NCAA Tournament, while the volleyball team reached the sweet 16. Stanford is leading the race with 385 points, UCLA is second with 307 points, Michigan is third with 262 points, North Carolina is fourth with 258 points and Penn State is fifth with 245 points. The other Big Ten school ranked above Minnesota is Wisconsin in a tie for 10th place with 195 points.
