whileMinnesota placed just two runners in the top 100 and finished 12th of 56 teams at the Memorial Classic at Iowa State.
Second-ranked Brigham Young upset top-ranked Stanford for the team title while Colorado's Kara Wheeler, a Duluth, Minn., native, won the individual title.
The Gophers scored 478 points to finish 12th overall and third among the seven Big Ten teams competing at the meet, which was run on the same 6,000-meter course that will host the NCAA Championships, Nov. 20.
Leading Minnesota was senior Elaine Eggleston, who finished in 21 minutes, 53 seconds, finishing 31st overall. Frosh Darja Vasiljeva was 62nd overall in 22:16.
