Nabwe Claims Eighth Career Big Ten Weekly Honor

The two-time Big Ten champion has already earned the weekly honor twice this season.

MINNEAPOLIS -- For the second time this season redshirt junior Anthonett Nabwe has earned the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week honor, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Nabwe has won eight weekly honors from the Big Ten in her career, and has claimed two of the three weekly honors she has qualified for this season.

The two-time Big Ten champion won the weight throw at the 2026 Graduate Classic with a toss of 23.26m (76-3 3/4), marking the 11th consecutive regular season competition she has won dating back to her last non-victory on Feb. 3, 2024 (Gopher Classic). Despite the 23.26m (76-3 3/4) toss in Lincoln not being a lifetime or season best, the redshirt junior's winning weight throw mark would still put Nabwe at No. 1 in the NCAA this season with the No. 2 toss currently being 22.95m (75-3 1/2) from Akaoma Odeluga of Ole Miss. This season, in just three indoor competitions, Nabwe has four different marks in the weight throw that would sit at No. 1 in the NCAA this season (23.26m, 23.48m, 23.56m and 23.74m). Nabwe was also the runner-up in the women's shot put at the Graduate Classic with a season-best throw of 16.86m (55-3 3/4), good enough for the fifth-best in the Big Ten this year.

This indoor season the Maroon and Gold have won three weekly honors with Nabwe claiming the distinction twice while Zeal Kuku was named the Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week earlier this year. In her career, Nabwe has won eight different Big Ten Athlete of the Week honors between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
