The Gophers, who had outscored the Huskies 50-4 in six previous meetings before the weekend, were unable to shake their guests, despite twice leading by two goals.
Rachel Denner's power-play goal six minutes into the opening period gave St. Cloud State an early lead but Slominski, at 19:04, and Nadine Muzerall, at 19:56, scored in the final minute of the opening period to give Minnesota a 2-1 lead.
Slominski scored twice in the second period to set a school record with three power-play goals in a game, but Amanda Mathison and Kobi Kawamoto both scored to keep the Huskies within a goal.
Fiona McLeod's power-play goal 4:24 into the final period then tied the score with St. Cloud State's lone even-strength goal of the game.
Ronda Curtin got the game-winner for the Gophers on the power-play with 8:44 to play when she converted a Bethany Petersen rebound.
Minnesota had a commanding 38-20 advantage in shots on goal. Laura Gieselman stopped 33 shots for St. Cloud State while Minnesota's Erica Killewald made 16 saves.
