GOPHER SOCCER LOSES IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

(4-4-The Minnesota soccer team's four-match winning streak came to an end on Sunday, as the Gophers were defeated, 1-0 in double overtime, at Michigan State. Minnesota's record falls to 7-7-0 overall (4-4-0 Big Ten), while Michigan State improves to 10-3-2 (5-3-1 Big Ten).

Michigan State's Emily Clarke scored the winning goal at the 108:44 mark in double overtime off an assist by Libby Kelly. The Spartans owned a 16-12 advantage in shots in the match, including a 5-2 edge during the overtime periods. Gopher senior forward Laurie Seldl was held without a shot for only the third time in her career.

Spartan goalkeeper Sara Kloosterman collected four saves in the shut out win. Gopher keeper Julie Eibensteiner stopped eight shots.

Minnesota plays its final Big Ten matches nest weekend, travelling to Wisconsin on Friday and to Northwestern on Sunday.
