GOLFERS IN THIRD AFTER ONE DAY OF WINDON MEMORIAL

Schauman followed a one-over par 73 in the morning round with his ninth par or better score (70) in his last 11 collegiate rounds. Four of Minnesota's five golfers improved their scores from the morning round to the afternoon round at the 6,951-yard, par 72 layout. Minnesota's team score of 287 in the afternoon round represented the third-best team score of the day.
The Golden Gophers are nine strokes behind 22nd-ranked Southern California, who leads the tournament at two- over par 578. Oklahoma, ranked 23rd in the nation, is two shots behind the Trojans and seven shots ahead of Minnesota in second place. Host school Northwestern, the highest nationally ranked team in the event at #10, is in 10th place at 19-over par 595.
A pair of Trojans, Nick Jones and Hunter Mahan, lead the tournament in first and second place respectively. Jones is at five-under par 139 with teammate Mahan just one shot behind at four-under par 140. Schauman's total of 143 is good for a tie for seventh place. Schauman, along with the Golden Gophers as a team, is bidding for a third straight tournament championship.
The final 18 holes of the tournament will be played Tuesday morning.
