SOCCER LOSES TO NO. 24 WISCONSIN

goThe University of Minnesota soccer team saw its record fall to 7-8-0 overall (4-5-0 Big Ten) with a 4-2 loss at No. 24 Wisconsin on Friday.

The Badgers ((12-5-0, 7-3-0) scored three second-half goals to ward off the Gophers. Gopher forward Laurie Seidl closed the Wisconsin lead to 2-1 with a goal at the 68:49 mark off assists by Meghan Jones and Alison Rackley. Wisconsin answered with the game-winning goal of the foot of Allison Wagner at the 59:56 mark.

Samatha Meyers tallied the Gophers' second goal at the 82:45 mark but the Gophers could get no closer.

Wisconsin clinched the No. 2 seed for the Big Ten Tournament with the victory. Minnesota, by virture of Northwestern's tie at Michigan, has solidified one of the eight bids for the tournament. The Gophers conclude their Big Ten season at Northwestern on Sunday.
