BICKERSTAFF AND SIMMONS NAMED CAPTAINS

John-Blair Bickerstaff and Terrance Simmons have been named captains for the 2000-01 season.

Bickerstaff, a native of Denver, Colo., averaged 7.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Golden Gophers last season. Bickerstaff, a fifth-year senior, is completing coursework for his degree in speech communications while beginning work on a graduate degree.

Simmons, a native of Haughton, La., averaged 11.1 points and led the team by averaging 4.2 assists per game last season.

The Golden Gophers will host the annual Maroon and Gold Fan Appreciation Game on Friday evening, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and tip-off at 7:45 p.m.
