CLARKE'S FOUR POINTS LEAD GOPHERS TO SERIES SWEEP

teamFrosh center La Toya Clarke scored two goals and added two assists to lead Minnesota to a 6-1 win over Minnesota State, Mankato for a sweep of the teams' two-game series.

The Gophers got off to a slow start but Ronda Curtin got her team on the board first for the second night in a row at 13:58 of the opening period.

Minnesota then scored three times in the second period. La Toya Clarke scored just 41 seconds into the period and Ambria Thomas scored her team-leading seventh of the season at the 9:50 mark. Courtney Kennedy then made it 4-0 just 34 seconds later.

The Gophers eventually led 6-0 as Clarke scored on the power play at 9:13 of the final period and Alyson Sundberg's first goal of the season came with less than two minutes later.

The Mavericks' Ashleigh Miller foiled Minnesota's shutout bid when her shot deflected over the shoulder of Stefanie Johnson with 8:35 to play in the game.

Johnson, making her first collegiate start, stopped 11 shots to earn the victory. Shari Vogt had 38 saves for MSU, Mankato.
