GOLDEN GOPHERS RALLY FROM THREE DOWN TO TIE ALASKA-ANCHORAGE

The Seawolves jumped ahead in the first period as Gregg Zaporzan scored 1:48 into the game. Steve Cygan, who scored a goal with two assists, assisted on the goal.
In the second period, Minnesota outshot the Seawolves 19-4, but Alaska-Anchorage increased the lead to 3-0 with a pair of goals.
After the second intermission, Minnesota came out flying and Leimbek did the damage with his first of two goals just 41 seconds into the period. Leimbek would strike again at the 6:21 mark.
After Dylan Mills was called for hooking at the 9:07 mark, Erik Westrum found Troy Riddle behind the Seawolves' defense and the true freshman beat goalie Chris King to knot the game at three at 9:58. The two teams battled to a draw in the five-minute overtime.
Minnesota outshot Alaska-Anchorage 44-17, but the Seawolves' King stopped 41 shots to give the Seawolves one point for the weekend.
The Golden Gophers will continue the homestand next weekend when the top-ranked Wisconsin Badgers visit Mariucci Arena.
