Sophomore Will McComb, last seasons Big Ten Freshman of the Year, finished first for Minnesota in eighth place with a time of 24 minutes, 34 seconds. His finish earned him second team All-Big Ten honors for the second consecutive year. Juniors Andrew McKessock and Joe Corr were the next two Minnesota finishers at 21st and 25th, respectively. McKessock had a time of 24:57 and Corr came in at 25:01.
While the Golden Gophers may not have placed as high as they wished as a team, but five of the harriers recorded new career best times. McComb, McKessock, Corr, sophomore Neil Hanson and freshman Brent Loberg all had new best times. McComb's time was just one second off the 10th best time on any course in Minnesota history. That time of 24:33 is held by current head coach Steve Plasencia and was recorded at the 1977 big Ten Championships.
The Gophers will begin preparations for the 2000 NCAA District V Championships in Waterloo, Iowa on November 11.
