GOPER CROSS COUNTRY TEAM HOSTS ROCKY'S RUN

Minnesota hosts the annual Rocky's Run on Sunday. The meet begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Les Bolstad Cross Country Course.
The Week in Review
The top three teams in the Big Ten Championship were the same for the fourth consecutive year as Minnesota finished third behind Wisconsin and Michigan.
Wisconsin won its sixth consecutive conference title by scoring 34 points, easily outdistancing runner-up Michigan, which finished with 89 points. The Gophers were third with 99 points.
Badger junior Erica Palmer won the individual title for the third consecutive year. She defeated junior teammate Bethany Brewster by a comfortable 20 seconds in a time of 16 minutes, 44 seconds.
Senior Elaine Eggleston (Roseville, Minn./Roseville Area) was Minnesota's top finisher. She earned first-team all-conference honors by placing sixth in 17:34. Frosh Darja Vasiljeva (Jelgava, Latvia/ Jelgava Secondary No. 5) was the meet's top frosh, placing ninth in 17:38 to earn second-team All-Big Ten honors.
Michigan placed its top four runners between Vasiljeva and junior Victoria Moses (New Brighton, Minn./Irondale), who was 22nd overall in 18:02. Senior Corinne Nimtz (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) was 24th overall in 18:04 and sophomore Anita Menden (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) completed the Gophers' scoring by placing 38th in 18:19.
Eggleston Earns Third All-Conference Honor
By placing among the top seven runners, Elaine Eggleston earned first-team All-Big Ten honors for the first time in her career, following second-team all-conference recognition each of the past two seasons.
Eggleston is the only runner in Gopher history, in the 19 years of the Big Ten Championship, to earn All-Big Ten honors three times. In making the first team, she is the eighth Minnesota runner place in the top seven at the conference meet.
Darling Darja
By finishing ninth, Darja Vasiljeva is just the second Gopher frosh to earn all-conference honors at her first Big Ten Championship. Her ninth-place finish is the highest ever for a Minnesota first-year runner. It is the first time ever that Minnesota had the top frosh in the meet.
Up Next
The Gophers head south to Waterloo, Iowa, for the NCAA Midwest Region Championship on Saturday, Nov. 11. The meet, hosted by Northern Iowa, is scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m. at the Irv Warren Golf Course.
