The Badgers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by Karen Rickard and Kelly Kegley in the game's opening eight minutes. A blistering shot from the right faceoff circle by Courtney Kennedy with 2:13 left in the opening period cut the lead in half.
Ambria Thomas scored on the power play at 2:10 of the second period to tie the game but Wisconsin would score twice in the period, getting goals from Meghan Hunter and Rickard, sandwiched around another Thomas goal, as the Badgers took a 4-3 lead into the final period.
That's when Muzerall, who had a hat trick Friday, scored the 119th goal of her career when she stole the puck at the Wisconsin blueline and beat Badger goalie Jackie MacMillan over her glove while cutting in from the right wing.
The Gophers outshot the Badgers 4-1 in the overtime but were unable to gain their first-ever overtime win, falling to 0-2-8 all-time in the extra session.
Wisconsin held a 27-25 edge in shots on goal. MacMillan had 21 saves for the Badgers while Erica Killewald had 23 for Minnesota.
