MinneMinnesota Ranked in Top 30 in Three Polls as Fall Season Ends
The Golden Gopher women's golf team is ranked in three national polls as the fall season comes to a close. As of Nov. 1, Minnesota was ranked No. 22 in the Golfstat Head-to-Head Ranking, No. 24 in the MasterCard Collegiate Ranking and No. 29 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Collegiate Ranking.

Three Gophers Finish Fall in Top 20
Three Golden Gophers inscribed their names on the Minnesota top 20 list for the lowest scoring average during the fall season. Senior Katie Bakken (Brooklyn Center, Minn./Champlin Park) topped the Gophers with a 77.15 average in five tournaments this fall to rank 10th on the list. Sophomore Karyn Stordahl (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) ranks 11th with a fall average of 77.23. Senior Jenny Bruun (Crookston, Minn./Central) added her name at the 13th spot, averaging 77.31.

Gophers Chase Top Team Performances in the Fall
The Gophers recorded all-time Minnesota top-10 scores in three of their five tournaments. Minnesota's total of 903 at the Shootout at The Legends placed the Gophers only seventh of 15 teams at the event, yet ranked as the second-best 54-hole team score in Gopher history. The Gophers placed third at the Lady Northern Invitational with a score of 908, the fourth-best 54-hole team score. In the weather-shortened Mary Fossum Invitational, the Gophers won the title with a total of 296, which tied for sixth all time for one round.

Looking Ahead to the Spring
Minnesota's next competition is Feb. 23-25 at the Midwest Classic in Dallas, Texas. The Gophers also look forward to hosting the 2001 Big Ten Championship, April 27-29, at the Les Bolstad Golf Course.
