oARIZONA STATE HEAD COACH PATTI SNYDER-PARK

"I thought Duke played strong tonight. I thought they played good defense. We had to battle. This was not our "A" game, but we did persevere. We played ourselves into the match, even with our serving struggles. I'm proud of our team. This is big to come through in the first round. They served us tough and had a good game plan. It's just great to get the first round...it was a battle."

"Offensively, Jami (Coughlin) was on fire tonight. Cheryl (Anglin) got her the ball. Amanda (Burbridge) struggled offensively tonight early, but she did other things. She was all over the floor defensively. Others were also producing, and Amanda got herself back into it. All six were playing well."

"I'm very proud of our freshmen. Cheryl (Anglin) was very smart with the offense. Natalie Harris was swinging hard and Courtney Blocher was also playing hard. We struggled in the DS position, but we brought in Kimberly Mehlorn, and she served tough. Michelle Mortensen did a good job in the middle. It was a team effort. The veterans and the youth blended."

DUKE HEAD COACH JOLENE NAGEL

"I'm really proud of what our team has accomplished. I'm disappointed that the team didn't capitalize on our opportunities. I'm proud of our team. They really came together individually and as a team. They are all great to work with, and they all keep me motivated to coach the team."

"There were too many service errors tonight. We were siding out, but we didn't score on our sideouts, and they did. We played good volleyball tonight as a team. If we could have capitalized on our opportunities, there would have been a different outcome. We need to go back to work. We have a few new areas to work on, and this will make us hungrier as we develop as a volleyball team."

"The team worked hard to stay in shape, and has worked hard at conditioning. We can always be stronger, but this team has really worked hard."

MINNESOTA HEAD COACH MIKE HEBERT

"One of our goals was to make sure that we would play with discipline. We need to have a tight grip on our own performance, like blocking and shot selection. The higher-seeded team can sometimes play sloppy, and that is why we focused on discipline. Our younger players need to get NCAA Tournament experience. It is good to have them out there for that experience and for the future."

"It is nice to rest the front-line players. I think Nicole taking five swings will let her legs be ready for tomorrow. Our team has felt a little beat up from the conference. It's nice to have them sit and observe and see what is going on in the match."

"Lindsey's jumper was on tonight, which is a psychological advantage. Charnette (Fair) was hitting the ball three feet over the net, and we outblocked them, 11-0. Robert Morris caught us on a good night."

ROBERT MORRIS HEAD COACH TIM HORSMAN

"We played a great team from a great conference, and they are very well-coached. They are more physical than us. We are just happy to be her, but we could have been better. It is hard to match up with athleticism."

"Last year was my first year as a coach. The year before, I went to Russ Rose's coaching clinic, and now I have met Mike Hebert. It has been a great experience. Everyone has treated us wonderfully. The other players have been really supportive and have not looked down on us. Hopefully, we'll grow as individuals and as a team."

"This is an elite conference, and an overwhelming matchup. We couldn't find Minnesota's flaws, because we just don't match up really well."
