thDartmouth Green handed the Minnesota Golden Gophers an early present in the form of a 81-62 victory. Minnesota's record improves to 10-1, making the Golden Gophers the first Big Ten team to pick up their 10th win of the season.

Minnesota dominated the game, proving that their 10 day hiatus from competition did them good. Although Dartmouth scored first, the Golden Gophers answered back quickly to tie the game at 3-3 with the help of a Green foul. Sophomore Shane Schilling drained a quick three and the Gophers remined on top from that point on. Minnesota dazzled Dartmouth in the first half, forcing them to commit nine turnovers to the Gophers' two. Minnesota was also hot from the three-point line, shoot 5-for-9 from beyond the arc in the first half. Schilling and fellow sophomore Kevin Burleson hit two a piece.

It was more of the same in the second half, although the turnover plague hit Minnesota in the later minutes. They also picked up their seventh team foul with 10:49 remaining in the half. But even with these small blunders, Dartmouth never got close. Dartmouth hit three threes in a row in the last three minutes of the game to bring them within 17. However, freshman walk-on Wade Hokenson gave Minnesota a 19-point lead with 17 second remaining with a twisting layup down the middle of the lane, much to the delight of the Golden Gopher faithful.

Dusty Rychart recorded his second double-double of the season for Minnesota with 13 points and 10 rebounds. John-Blair Bickerstaff was the Golden Gophers leading scorer with 14. Schilling added 13 points and shot a perfect 3-for-3 from the three-point arc. Terrance Simmons also scored in double figures with 10.

Dartmouth's leading scorer was Mark Kissling with 18. Edina, Minn. native Greg Buth had seven points and four assists for the Green.

Minnesota will return to the Williams' hardwood on Dec. 28 for a game against Nebraska at 9:30 p.m.
