Be Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - The University of Minnesota football team met the press this afternoon for media day at the Micronpc.com Bowl. The event was accompanied by a pep rally across the street at Beach Place.

The pep rally featured marching bands and spirit squads from both Minnesota and North Carolina State. The Golden Gopher marching band, numbering well over 200, packed the second floor of the rotunda, while the main floor was filled with primarily Minnesota fans and supporters.

Following the show, a number of Golden Gophers crossed the street to attend the Media Day on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Media from the Twin Cities, Raleigh, N.C. and local Florida print and electronic outlets took advantage of their last opportunity to talk to the players and coaches from both universities. The highlight of the event was Golden Gopher Head Coach Glen Mason doing several interviews with his feet in the Atlantic Ocean.

The Golden Gophers will take the rest of the evening off and will have a walk-through at Pro Player Stadium tomorrow afternoon.
