Minnesota scoring efforts were helped by free throws, as the Wildcats recorded their seventh team foul of the second half with 17:03 remaining, including a technical on the Bethune-Cookman bench.
Bauer led the Gophers with 18 points. John-Blair Bickerstaff, Dusty Rychart and Terrance Simmons also scored in double figures with 16, 18 and 11, respectively. Bickerstaff's total was just one under his career high. Bickerstaff, Bauer and Rychart each recorded six rebounds.
Brian Cox led the Wildcats with 18 points. Derricus Lockwood scored 15 and Tyree Harris had 10. Bethune-Cookman's leading rebounder was Jesse Daniels with five.
The Golden Gophers will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. against Lousiana Tech at Williams Arena.

The game stayed close in the first 10 minutes of the first half until the Golden Gophers went on an 11-0 run to take an 11-point lead. The run ended on a free throw by Brian Cox at the 7:37 mark. But there was no chance for a Wildcat comeback, and Minnesota went into the lockerroom with a 44-32 lead.
