WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS SETS SEASON HIGH AT ARIZONA STATE

The Golden Gophers also set season-highs for team vault score and team balance beam score. Freshman Leigh Dixon tied her career best on the vault by placing third at 9.825. Junior Shanyn Lancaster tied for fourth with a score of 9.775. Senior Melissa Chang and sophomore Megan Beuckens each set a career high with 9.75 scores. Minnesota scored 48.775 on the vault, the fifth-best score in team history.
On the balance beam, the Golden Gophers tied the seventh-highest team score in Minnesota history with a score of 48.75. Freshman Kelly Watson tied for eighth place with a score of 9.775, while sophomore MaryAnne Kelley tied for 11th at 9.75. Senior Judy Cavazos tied for 14th at 9.725, and senior Kristi Selinger was 16th at 9.70.
Minnesota's highest score of the meet was on uneven bars, where the Gophers scored 48.85. Cavazos led the way with an eighth-place finish at 9.875, tying her highest score of the season. Sophomore Catie Christensen tied for 11th at 9.825. Chang was 16th (9.75), Kelley 19th (9.70) and Beuckens 21st (9.675).
Kelley was Minnesota's highest finisher on the floor exercise, tying for seventh at 9.80. Beuckens was third in the all around with a total of 38.95, while Kelley was fourth at 38.925.
