PURDUE DEFEATS GOLDEN GOPHER MEN

In the first half, Purdue shot a sizzling 72 percent from the field and held the Golden Gophers to 38 percent to take a 58-27 lead into the lockerroom. Schilling scored seven points in the first half and Simmons scored nine points to lead Minnesota in the first half.
In the second half, Purdue kept up the hot shooting and shot 64 percent to Minnesota's 42 percent and outrebounded the Golden Gophers, 33-29 and won the game 97-61. Schilling led Minnesota with 15 points, followed by Simmons with 13 and Rychart and Kevin Burleson with eight. The Boilermakers were led by Mike Robinson with 18 points and Jaraan Cornell with 13 points.
The Golden Gophers travel to Seton Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 23 to take on the Seton Hall Pirates at 6:30 central time. The next home game for Minnesota will be on March 4 or March 5 when Ohio state comes to town.
