season.University of Minnesota head soccer coach Barbara Wickstrand signed Noelle Langston of Santee, Calif., to a National Soccer Letter of Intent. Langston will join the Golden Gophers for the 2000 season.

Langston, a midfielder, is already an accomplished player heading into her final season at Santana High School this spring. She has earned All-Grossmont League First Team honors in each of the past two seasons. As a sophomore, she was honored with her high school's Outstanding Athlete Award.

An honor student, Langston is a two-time honoree of the San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team. In February of 1999, she was selected as a national scholar and participated in the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C.

"Noelle Langston has many attributes she will bring to our program," said Wickstand. "She is a true competitive and athletic leader with great height and speed, is tactically and technically sound and has a natural left foot. She will help our program control the midfield and add a scoring threat from anywhere on the field."

Langston joins Rachael Roth of Hamel, Minn. and Amy Khaleel of Edina, Minn. as the Gophers' class of 2000.
