SIMAKOVA QUALIFIES FOR NCAA MEET AT GO-PHER-IT INVITATIONAL

200-meteMinnesota senior Andrea Simkova became the Gophers' second automatic qualifier to the NCAA meet Saturday at the Go-Pher-It Invitational at the University Aquatic Center.

Simakova swam the 200-meter butterfly in 2:13.06, .15 of a second faster than the NCAA's automatic qualifying standard.

Simakova joins Gopher senior Kelsey Hegener, who qualified last week in the 100 breaststroke, as NCAA automatic qualifiers. The Gophers will compete at the NCAA meet March 16-18 in Indianapolis.
